Forward and reverse are switched using a claw. The main body is coated with a cationic paint that is resistant to rust. The opening at the claw switching area is large, so even if muddy water, sand, etc. gets in, it is quickly expelled, ensuring extremely stable ratchet operation even under harsh conditions.
